Takeaways from the Telescope Health Webinar

Our Telescope Health webinar was packed with great information about how this healthcare tech company is changing the game with their on-demand telemedicine services. Paul from Telescope Health and Jeff from Ameriflex tackled lots of questions about how everything works, what’s covered, and what makes them different from other telehealth options out there.

What Can They Prescribe?

A lot of people were curious about prescriptions. Paul explained that their providers can prescribe most medications and will work with your insurance plan’s formulary. Some controlled substances fall under state regulations that might require an in-person visit, but even then, their team helps coordinate the process to make it as smooth as possible.

They're Always Available - Seriously!

One of the coolest things about Telescope Health? They’re available 24/7, including holidays. Yes, even Christmas and New Year’s! Many other telehealth services limit their hours or take holidays off, but Telescope Health keeps going. Paul mentioned that even when you’re traveling, they make sure you’re connected with a provider who’s licensed in whatever state you’re currently in.

No Primary Care Doctor? No Problem

Someone asked if you need a primary care physician to use their service. Nope! Telescope Health is totally on-demand – you can reach out whenever you need care, even at 3 AM on a Sunday. If you don’t have a primary care doctor, their care navigators can help you find an in-network provider and speed up the referral process.

When Should You Skip Telemedicine?

While telemedicine is great for many health issues, it’s not right for everything. Paul was upfront about this – if you’re bleeding excessively or lose consciousness, you need emergency care ASAP. But interestingly, even for something like chest pain, they can still help by evaluating the situation, advising on next steps, and even calling ahead to the ER to get you faster care.

Wait Times? What Wait Times?

Unlike traditional doctor’s offices, there’s no need to schedule appointments days or weeks in advance. Their service is truly on-demand – call when you need care. The average wait is under 10 minutes, with some areas like Jacksonville seeing waits as short as 5 minutes. While you’re waiting, you can chat with a nurse if you have immediate concerns.

International Coverage

Unfortunately, Telescope Health is currently only available within the United States. If you’re planning international travel, though, you can still consult with them beforehand about any health concerns.

Seeing the Same Provider

While you might not always see the same provider, you can request follow-ups with a specific doctor if needed. If you have ongoing issues or questions for a provider you’ve seen before, they’ll help make that connection happen.

Family Coverage

Good news for families – dependents are covered as long as they’re on your health benefits plan. If they’re on a separate insurance plan, they can still use the service, but it would be at a cash rate.

What Makes Telescope Health Different?

Unlike many telehealth services that just handle one-off visits, Telescope Health aims to be a true healthcare partner. They offer care navigation, provider-to-provider referrals, and coordinated care to help you manage your health and avoid unnecessary ER visits. They use data analytics to guide patients to the right care at the right time.

Getting Connected

Jeff explained that Ameriflex makes it easy for employers and brokers to get their employees set up with Telescope Health. The onboarding process integrates Telescope Health into employee benefits packages, making it simple for members to access their healthcare information and schedule telehealth visits. Care Navigation and Virtual Care, powered by Telescope Health, is an add-on wellness benefit in Ameriflex’s bundles, Build Your Own Plan and The Ameriflex Alternative Plan (TAAP)

Throughout the webinar, it was clear that Telescope Health is changing how people access healthcare. By offering on-demand service, personalized care coordination, and focusing on long-term relationships with patients, they’re standing out as a valuable healthcare partner – whether you need a primary care doctor or just want convenient, quick care.
