Navigating employee benefits compliance can be challenging, especially when regulations such as COBRA, ERISA, and HIPAA intersect. Employers and benefits professionals are expected to understand a complex set of rules governing health plans, participant communications, privacy requirements, and ongoing compliance obligations.
This course provides a practical overview of the laws and regulations that impact employer-sponsored health benefits, with a special focus on COBRA and ERISA compliance requirements. Participants will gain a better understanding of required notices, plan documentation, fiduciary responsibilities, and common compliance pitfalls that can expose employers to risk.
The course also explores strategies for helping small and large employers manage administrative responsibilities, reduce compliance burdens, and improve their benefits administration processes. In addition, participants will learn from real-world examples and key lessons uncovered through recent Department of Labor (DOL) and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) audits.
Upon completion of this course, you will have a stronger understanding of benefits compliance requirements and be better equipped to educate clients, identify potential risks, and support employers in maintaining compliant health benefit programs.
